Read mostly all of it, aside from a couple short pieces I think. This is on the higher side of the collection, but I'm an apologist and love most of his stuff.

I like dark places too, but a father/son combination with zero hope and a supportive bond that the outside world must inevitably ruin was a little much for me. It was parent poison...a miserable blend of Mary Logan and the Seattle sequence from On the Beach. I haven't reread it ever, and never saw the movie, but I'm still bummed about it to this day.

I got Bob Dylan's Chronicles vol.1 for Christmas so I'm about to start that bad boy.

I adore The Road. It's one of my favorite books by any author. The final paragraph destroys me.

I always meant to read The Road but then I had kids and figured it wasn't for me anymore.

Man, if having kids keeps you from reading books, I'm glad I'm not having kids.

I think The Road is a beautiful story with a lot of humanity, honesty and hope. The father/son connection is palpable. I don't know. I don't have kids.
