He went on some show on MSNBC and the anchors kept saying things like "he's so hard to understand when I hear him on the radio, but I love him in person!" and generally acting like he wasn't in the room/treating him like shit. Eventually he got fed up with it and told them how unprofessional they were.

idk, i find what the msnbc anchors were doing pretty funny. granted, they probably didn't realize what they were doing, but should intent matter in the humor of a situation like this?

I thought it was pretty insulting. If I went on a show like that and was treated that way, I'd be pretty pissed as well.

Sure, it's disrespectful. Just like Ali G interviews. Not the same absurdity, but there's definitely an absurd humor in my mental picture of that MSNBC interview.

Wait, what happened now?
Yeah. It was rude. and Mika from "Morning Joe" can be insufferable at times (basically all the time), but since it was Russell Brand, I find it hard to care. And when it comes to manners, Brand is hardly the epitome of what is socially acceptable; making off the cuff sexual remarks in order to gain laughs. Anyway...

A friend of mine was his personal assistant up until a few months ago. Based on the experiences he's shared with me, I think Brand should probably get some professional help. The guy sounds completely insane.

I don't think I've seen any of his standup but I do find him very watchable.
I was one of the few people who saw Brand X regularly and it was a real grab bag of a show. It was all over the place and you never knew what direction it would go; it could be really bad or surprisingly good. The best bits would inevitably come down to his interractions with members of the audience. Part of that is Brand's extremely extroverted and chatty personality. He comes across as pure manic Id. I can't relate to that and can imagine it would be tiresome if around constantly him but in small doses he is entertaining, to me at least.
Brand's had an interesting life and I don't doubt that he's very smart. But I wouldn't be completely surprised if there is at least some legit craziness either.
Been meaning to read his book(s) for a while.

I'm watching "Battlefield: Los Angeles" right now. How's that for "non-gay"?

Why are you so obsessed with heteronormative manliness all of a sudden? You seem confused and insecure.

I saw that movie. But only because I was invited to the New York premiere. I really didn't care for it.
