The latest I've read is that the government is about to hire a private army to deal with civil unrest in the event of a No Deal Brexit. Why a private army? What's wrong with the army? This is a full blown coup.

This is probably quite unpopular but I do think Trump's presidency has been funny. It's also been horrific, brutal, and mean, and has set the stage for some very real problems (lost time on climate change is, to me, the biggest, most existential one). But I don't think these things are mutually exclusive. The US is being run by a bumbling dementia patient with white nationalist sympathies--the first part of that sentence is endlessly funny. Similarly, I don't think Boris as PM is funny, I don't think the effects of Brexit or his PM-ship would be funny, but the narrative arc from Cameron's gamble to May's failure to fucking no-deal Brexit is funny!

remember, if it is an election, Boris Johnson will be risking everything. If he loses, he will become the shortest serving prime minister in history.

I’d like to agree. He’s been demonized and vilified for so long by the establishment it’s hard to see it happening.
