This pretentiousness seeps into their music and I think thats why it has never really moved me much. Many great tracks but overall i just cant get into them...

I compared this move to Ed's being a 'pretentious asshole'. Just because Ed wasn't / isn't a hipster, it doesn't mean he wasn't being both, as if the terms are mutually exclusive. Ed was in a giant rock band and felt that he could do whatever the fuck he wanted with that microphone, even shout down a woman to rapturous applause. If that's not pretentious, I'd like to know what definition you're going by.

I personally think if some drunk girl is flashing her tits and looking for attention, she deserves to be called out for being an idiot.

i am not in favor of dissuading shirtlessness at shows. That is my position.

I'm actually okay with the dress code. I kind of like the idea of a costume ball. I just don't think it's very practical when they play places like the Gorge, where it's insanely hot in August.

I applauded when Eddie said that at the show (I was there, man). I mean, maybe it is pretentious to knock someone down for that, but she had to know she wasn't exactly at a Poison or Def Leppard show. If anything, with that kind of begging for attention, she probably still brags about being chastised by Eddie Vedder at a rock concert.

Conversely, if Arcade Fire were playing Lincoln Center, Carnegie Hall, or even the Apollo for that matter, I could almost...almost see it (then it would only be an insult because they should have assumed people would dress better), but a suit at the Barclays Center!? Sure, and the next time I go to the movies I'll get a tux and pretend I'm at the premiere.

This is going to be a joke. I'd be surprised if there's more than 25% participation in this nonsense.

Yeah it's not going to work at arena/amphitheater shows. I would totally put on a suit if it was at the House of Blues or something like that.
