I get why many of you are saying "Jeff's taken over" but wasn't there an interview with Ed where he commented on the ambient recordings he'd make in his hotel room whilst on tour?

I woke up with the xmas single (2005, Gone) of the view outside the Atlantic City hotel room with the recorder in the foreground on my mind.

It's a reference to their touring schedule, I think -- as in, "We used to gig a ton, but now we only gig a few times a year..."

Former drummer and long time friend of the band Jack Irons contributes to three songs on Pearl Jam’s upcoming album Gigaton, available March 27, 2020.

Why would they just not release this thing a couple weeks prior so people can hear it before the shows ?
