They're due for that moment.
I wish I agreed with you Dime. But a great album takes effort in writing, recording and mixing. I fear they don't have the inclination to commit the time and effort necessary at the moment. Maybe they can just pull a great album out of the air but it rarely happens without a lot of effort (and a little lightning in a bottle)

I'm with you. But I think we could be on the verge of a band about to get really interesting. It could go the other way entirely and very easily. But a lot of the great bands/artist only get into the deep stuff, at this point. I think Pj have always had this moment waiting for them. And if this isn't it, it'll definitely be the next one.

Follow that logic and you end up a band trying to write betterman II in order TO be liked again. Fuck that shit.
No, you're not understanding me. PJ need to write what they want, regardless of whether people like it; but they need to be OK with the fact that nobody gives a shit except for their fanbase. In order to be liked again, they would have to be writing material like Justin Beiber or Neyo or Nicky Minaj. Until they do, no one will be 'reminded' they like them. And that's perfectly OK, but BO'B is tripping thinking anything different.

100% agree. And by trying to make it accessible for everyone and new fans, won't really work and will only serve to alienate the established fanbase a la backspacer. But let's just see.

Or they'll just quit. It'll probably be one or the other, because I think conflict is around the corner if they have to tread water like this for too much longer.

I like what I'm hearing from the reviews, cheesy production or no cheesy production. The songs sound interesting, and the production is a compromise I can make if I enjoy the songs. So yeah, we'll see.

This one made me slightly less excited and i dont know why :| Maybe its the lyric snippets, lots of nature stuff which isn't my favourite theme really and Sirens sounds spectacularly cheesy.

The more i hear from B'oB the more i feel justified in bitching about him. Maybe eddie needs to listen to him less and tell him to fuck off more, it worked on the other albums. And worry about pleasing people less. The band might not have, but BoB isn't even trying to make it sound like they gave much of a shit. He'd make shitty salesman.

This bastard needs to leak so i can form my own opinions. And for the love of god can we get an interview with an actual member of the band.

Also why would eddie work in a room seperate to the band 'with his own team' ? or does he mean recording vocals and shit?

I get you now. I honesty don't believe they give a fuck if people like it or not. They are pretty much of the mindset we make ourselves happy, if everyone likes it, all to the good.

But it's weird having the producer out front as the mouthpiece. He's got his own agenda. Strange to let him have 100% coverage spouting his take.

I can see that too. And the whole 'we record when we have something to say' thing is worrying. Re you running out of things to say? It would so seem.
Pj have always needed something to rail against and something to hope for.

If they're personally in happier places in their lives, how long can they continue with no windmills to tilt towards?

Still not worried about all that, it wasn't beyond my expectations. I like tree-hugging hippy shit. I'm hoping this album gets dark in the right spots.

Yeah, he just says horribly off-putting things. He sounds like an obsessive control freak. I want to believe that I'm overstating this case, but by now I'm really not sure I am. He's pulling the strings; what other explanation is there?
stupidmop wrote:This bastard needs to leak so i can form my own opinions. And for the love of god can we get an interview with an actual member of the band.
Yes and yes. I feel like PJ were an expectant but apprehensive mother, and it was a difficult, fraught birth. But Brendan has stolen the baby.
stupidmop wrote:Also why would eddie work in a room seperate to the band 'with his own team' ? or does he mean recording vocals and shit?
It really sounded like he wasn't just talking about recording vocals. Would he even mention that?

I guess I'm starting to worry that the idea that PJ hasn't even made this album, BO'B has, might put me off before I even get to next month. PJ need to say something fast.

I don't know but I always got the impression eds contribution came last in the studio. He's tinkering away working on lyrics in a room while they're down the hall behind a desk twiddling knobs and playing stuff repeatedly.
There's an EPK (for ST?) that seems to suggest this.

If it's that simple, fine with me.

Anyway, night all, I should go to bed.
