two things
vaccine passport - big deal. you have to show ID to buy alcohol and cigarettes and no one says a damn word but because trump and republicans are against proving you have a vaccine everyone is in an uproar. most if not all stores have a no shirt, no shoes no service mandate and everyone is fine with that. have a mask mandate and all of a sudden you are infringing on my rights
verb seems to be really obsessed with cucking. something tells me doth protest too much

Sounds a lot like the argument for voter id

You already had covid Peeps. You think it makes sense to essentially force you to get vaccinated (or be locked out of society) when you already have natural immunity?

i still wear a mask and will continue to do so even after my second vaccination (when im around my brother and stepfather i wont) because i could still carry it and just not be affected by it. plus who knows with the variants that are out there.
its a matter of taking as much care to not infect others than it is for me not to be infected

The most effective way for you to not infect others are for them to take responsibility for their own health and for them to wear a N95 mask.

So you're just in this forever then? Got it. You also side stepped the part where you're getting vaccinated for something you already have immunity against.

do we know for sure its forever? i have seen reports it last 3-6 months. you act like erring on the side of caution is something to be frowned upon. to me it isnt. i buckle up when i get into my car. i yield when i see a sign asking me to do so. i wipe my gym equipment down after im done with it (and before) and several other things that while they do not benefit myself directly but benefit others as a courtesy.
id rather people judge me to be an asshole for the things i say and not the things i do

The government does not have a long history of giving back power to the people once it has been leveraged away. We'll see where we're at in 3-6 months I guess. I hope you're right.

Exactly, if I had to mask up for a year to protect old people from getting Covid then everyone can mask up every flu season to prevent me from getting the flu.

This is pretty common in Asia, right?

If it became common practice for everyone to mask-up on public transit during flu season that would probably increase my standard of living.

But that's norms not legislated, right?

Not taking public transit would increase your standard of living so much more.

I haven't looked in on this thread. Is verb making the argument that the government is going to make us wear masks forever?

Strong disagree, driving sucks ass. But also, I would include planes in this category though I know they're not "public" (they should be!)

Try biking. It's good for you, builds your immune system, is good for the environment and commutes of up to 15 miles each way should be easily attainable by just about everyone under 60. Environmentally mask up, commute green.

I think so, but I don't know. We have a large 1st/2nd gen Chinese population in my area and we've seen masks every winter for years. Maybe something we should culturally appropriate going forward.

I walk most places anyway, but I can think of a number of reasons why, in the Northeastern US, it makes more sense to take a bus than to bike (not least among them the drivers you'd share the road with).
