They’re quite serious about it.
No way that book even sold half a million copies.

Combined 15 million for the trilogy according to Wikipedia.

And Heir to the Empire made it to #1 on the NYT bestseller list.

Clones of dead characters are such a lame trope in any era or medium. The clone army stuff is fine because they are just bodies and it speaks to the dystopian horrors of future industrialized warfare, but otherwise, I can't think of a single case where it works.

Think that’s the one I’m thinking of. Graphic novel. It was badass. Amazing artwork. Great story.
Think dark horse published it?

It sold truck loads and is loved.

Alright, what book are you jerks talking about?

Because Heir to the Empire is the Thrawn series which does not appear to have Palpatine clones.

Nor, for that matter, now that i've checked, does Splinter of the Minds Eye.

Dark Empire was the first comic series produced after Marvel ended their series. It was released long after any kind of real Star Wars product was produced. IIRC it was the first new content released and it paved the way for the Zahn Thrawn trilogy. As dime noted, it was the series in which Palpatine has a bunch of clones. Luke also turns to the Dark Side in it.

Splinter of the Mind’s Eye was the first sequel to the original movie and was written by the dude that ghost wrote the novelization of the first movie. It was put out in ‘78 and was the first non-movie content put out. I think it’s been adapted in comic book form in the 90s but I’ve not read that version of it. IIRC Luke AND Leia fight Vader together

I remember when QVC had these big Star Wars shows were you could buy SW stuff. I think me and my brother got a special edition DArk Empire comic book set off of there in the 90s.
