I think a little sensitivity for people who are big Star Wars fans (hi. Me) that haven't memorized every tidbit of every thing Star wars ever, would be a nice gesture.

This is reasonable and I would argue that it's exactly the courtesy and respect that has been extended.

Which is why the aggressive and outweighed response from some around here has been so upsetting.

Disney+ keeps erroring out on episode 6 and I gotta sleep. In the meantime, I thought episodes 4 and 5 were great, slow burns similar in quality to season 1. We're spending a ton of quality time with these characters and its gonna pay off in big ways, I have no doubt.

I'm also pleased that the music was very solid after some sporadic mediocrity in episodes 1-3. Good job, Brandon!

I love the premise of three episodes at once. Now I’m wondering at the wisdom of it.
This is all a lot and a beautifully made intensely detailed gift. But it’s a lot more focused on style than substance and to the point where the conversations and interactions that really matter, feel way too far apart and inconsequential, it not fully out of place with the rest of it.

That’s my take after a few hours space away from watching it once.
I hope I’ll revise it when I get to watch them again and not at 6am half asleep this time.

Huge bummer that seems ridiculous that they couldn't pull off based on his extremely short appearance in episode 6....which leads me to believe he'll play a more significant role later this season.

Part of the challenge I alluded to earlier in the thread is that the lower viewership (relative to other SW properties) has probably robbed us of the ideal delivery of this story. In my mind, that's 3-4 full seasons, each focused on one year.

In terms of the three episodes at once release each Tuesday, my guess is that's intended to prevent audience attrition with the first two "boring" episodes of each triplet.

None of this is ideal but it's the reality of where we're at. We've just gotta be thankful for what we are getting and try not get to get hung up on the how.

I've watched episodes 4 and 5. Had to go to work before I could get episode 6 in. I loved both 4&5. Beau is such a good writer. I hope he continues to work within Star Wars.

Obviously the Ghorman stuff is touchy around here so I'll spoiler this but it has to do with Legends and isn't a canon thing at all and isn't any kind of spoiler if you've seen Andor S24-6:

The original idea of an event called The Ghorman massacre came in an old Legends book. In that book, which is obviously not longer canon, the massacre was the Tarkin event they describe in episode 5! I love that Beau took that old Legends idea and worked it back into official canon! That so fucking cool.

This show remains incredible. I fucking love it.

I'm in love with Bix Careen (and have been since the S1 jump). Seeing her arc has been such a joy (when it hasn't broken my heart --- PROTECT BIX AT ALL COST!). I have no idea what will happen but given her lack of appearance in Rogue One .... oh shit! Sorry, we aren't allowed to reference other Star Wars stories in this thread.... but given, uh, things....

Chinta's death made me gasp out loud at work. I cried. Maybe I should have seen it coming but ... FUCK. What a gut punch. That sucked.

Mothma continues to be so interesting, even in sparse scenes. She's the MVP of this thing.

But Kleya is making a play for that spot! Holy shit! Especially in E6.... I'm starting to really love that character.

I haven't watched yet. Are dime and ep allowed to talk about that massacre thing yet?

For those who haven't read the articles and interviews about this... it seems like (best as I can tell):

Disney said they wanted to do an Andor series and took interviews with many artists/people about what that would look like.

Tony Gilroy interviewed and said, "don't do it, you shouldn't do an Andor series, but if you do, here's what it should be."

Disney loved the pitch and hired Gilroy.

Diego Luna did not want to commit to 5 seasons (Gilroy's pitch). He said he could maybe do 3 seasons.

The Andor's sister sub-plot was cut from S1 for a lot of reasons but going from 5 to 3 seasons was a big part of that.

After S1 was a critical success but a bit of ratings bummer, they decided to revamp into 2 seasons instead of 3.

However, the "arc" storytelling device, which has been prominent across all SW storytelling (even those "kids" shows ya'll dismiss so much) and worked so well in S1, was agreed to be the best way to structure and tell S2.

The 3 episode arch structure (and subsequent release) is about maximizing the writing/storytelling. I love that they are releasing, essentially, 4 Rogue One Prequel "films". I think it's masterful. There's so much to digest and talk about in each arc and we get a week to dig into all of it and have those discussions and then we get the next "film."

It's smart and effective, I think. A great mix between the dump/binge Netflix model which has people obsessed for a weekend and then on to the next thing, and the week to week model which fosters engagement but can feel interminable sometimes.

I still think the week by week model is far superior to the dump everything at once way of doing things. This seems like a good middle ground, but it's not perfect.

I wish I had the bandwidth to dive in deep and discuss these little mini-movies with you all.
