I'm sure on a ground level there are nice people just trying to be useful to local communities, but when the Christian missionary comes to your pagan village saying he just wants to help, be wary.

I don't have much for you. Personally, I've liked how difficult it is to win a libel case so I'm okay with the extremely high bar that Sullivan set, namely that you must prove malicious intent. With that standard her case never had a chance. Maybe she wants the Supreme Court to overturn or scale back Sullivan, idk.

Scaling back Sullivan has been on the conservative wish list for years, I'm certain someone in Palin's orbit had that objective, even if she herself was just along for the media attention.

In general I prefer the US standards on libel and slander, but making it functionally impossible for a public figure to prevail seems unreasonable.

I hadn’t watched a moment of CNN in eight months until yesterday, when I was at a coworker’s apartment and they had it on.
Headline: “international markets collapse in wake of Russian invasion.“
Nothing if not consistent. I’m surprised they weren’t interviewing people in a diner about it.
