Jeff is always deeply attuned to how much work remains because he usually does the album art

and also has to sit through session after session counting down the remaining tracks left as Ed skips over his songs one after one

waiting eventually for Ed to settle on including one of his pieces as a token gesture of bandship

but not until it is completely bastardized and repurposed

Yeah, that concerns me a little bit. When you think the work you have done is great you will show enthusiasm or you don't say anything. Perhaps Jeff doesn't really like that they go back into sounds and grooves they've done before. He always seems to be the one that's most eager to move forward.

"It's about half way done I think " says Ament. "I emailed 3 riffs over to Eddie about 2 years ago. I guess that's gonna be worked into a song or something. I dunno. We haven't actually been in a studio as a band for around 17 years."

And what kind of songs can fans expect from the new Pearl Jam album?

"I dunno," says Ament. "Some rockers, some ballads I guess?"
