The fact that this is the last song may exaggerate how flat it falls to me; I'm just having trouble coming up with a worse song on a PJ studio release than this one. I guess Supersonic, Gone, Inside Job, Green Disease, a few others on Backspacer come close.

I'm surprised that gets the head shake. I get others liking those songs, but I don't think it's really all that shocking that people would consider them part of the nadir of the band's catalog.

We're on the same page there. Now it's even more fun, because there are now people saying that LTRP is even worse than both Big Wave and Supersonic.

I hate Big Wave
I love Future Days.
I'm kinda neutral towards LTRP

I find "Let the Records Play" worse than "Big Wave" by far. I don't know if it's worse than "Supersonic". I'd rather listen to "Supersonic", I think.

Anyone think Ed was going for a 70s Tom Waits vibe with the inclusion of the piano bookends? That's the context I always hear it in.

That might've been what Ed was thinking, but if so, Brendan got it wrong.

Team Jorge.
Except I'd never voluntarily listen to Supersonic.

Ed obviously approved. The tone and cheesiness of it actually sounds akin to some of Tom's earliest records. I'm just not sure if I want that on a PJ record, or at least, this PJ record.

I think Ed played a song and then had a power nap.
No, that's not right. Didn't they record all of this stuff in two, like, one-week sessions or something silly like that? And Ed was in the vocal booth down the hall with a different engineer while the band was in the main room recording their parts?
I think expediency was chosen over the ability to edit rough drafts.

It sounds nothing like Tom Waits, sorry. There are hundreds of kinds of cheese. I'm not saying Ed didn't approve, just that it doesn't sound like Tom Waits just because Ed approved it.

Sucked at Wrigley. Sucks on the album. Just a lot of suck in this one.

I don't get much tom waits from that, regardless of the cheese. I hear more springsteen.

You should apologize to both of them after that comment.
