Does he always try the weird basket scoop catch like that? he tried it on that foul ball last night when it appeared like he could have just put his glove up and caught it above his head?

The sample size isn't quite there yet, but I don't think he's quite known for making plays harder in a showboating kind of way, at least not the way ellsbury has in the past.

I don't know what he was trying last night. Seemed like he got caught between two ideas and failed to pick.

yeah that could be? just odd that it was in a very similar snatch/grab/basket scoop style as tonight. Who knows maybe hes just more comfortable doing that.
