Although I think she's obviously über talented, I'm going to have to agree with stip.

I drafted a song from that album as my number one pick and still upset a super-fan. That's the kind of posting talent that takes years to perfect

I'm probably just being hypersensitive and overprotective of my grrrrrl. But I sure hope you aren't implying that the rest of (or really any part of) the album is, in fact, "being weird for the sake of being weird."
stip is the worst

To be fair, I'd only ever heard it once - on Nevermind the Buzzcocks, a music quiz show in the UK.

Mike's team obliterates dsb's without even really trying. Joanna, MBV, BPB, Sigur Ros, and Animal Collective are all top notch. The Decemberists' song from dsb's team was pretty, but the rest of it washed over me for the most part. Easy win for Mike.

This next match is a difficult one to call. I don't care for most of Varis's team, but he did have a few excellent picks; "Im Rauch" is wonderful and he picked the best song from Mogwai's Rave Tapes. That Nick Cave's song pretty nice, too. Wonderful, dreamy atmosphere. KP's got that Lanegan song which is pretty neat, though I'm not really into him. That little jam with Grohl, Reznor, and Homme was alright, too, although a little lacking in melodic interest or sensible progression. Eh, scratch that. Varis has songs I actually like rather than just find somewhat interesting, so my vote's for Varis.

Some really good choices by Varis (especially Low/The National/Bohren/Cave) and I don't like kp's songs much so my vote easily goes to Varis.

There is nothing particularly bad about dsb's team (except for Best Coast) but there isn't much that catches my attention either. I don't care for Mike's first three picks but the rest is pretty strong. Mike takes it.

In my mind, you're all winners!

However, that said:

Mike
Varis

Both Varis and koopee had quite a few songs I enjoyed but the Bohren and Bad Seeds definitively tipped the scales in favour of the former.

I only really liked one song each from dsb1218's and Mike's teams (NY&CH from one, MBV from the other) so it was kind of a toss-up however Mike's team had (mercifully) slightly less of the earnest, rootsy stuff.
