yeah.

Man, one of coolest moments of the Lanegan book was a story with Blackie taking Lanegan to his place with two underage girls and Mark going to his bathroom and seeing he had the whole place cover it with Anthony´s photos.
I didnt think that part of the book was very cool. What a creep.

I watched this most of the way through.

They sound good. Anthony sounds better (and keeping his breath) than some other recent clips posted here from the recent era.

I hope I can bounce around like Flea does at 60.

Understated John is good John.

Now that I've lived with the album for a few days I concur it really is a grower. Now I love it. Favorites are in line with most here:

Black summer
Here ever after
Aquatic mouth dance
Great Apes
Whatchu thinking
White braids
One way traffic (another good outro)
The heavy wing

But it really is consistent. Not inclined to skip anything... yet.

I already rate it higher than BTW (that album is too inconsistent not to mention the mixing), maybe higher than SA, but that may diminish with time.

For context, SA is now a top three for me (along with BSSM and Californication), but at the time I found it derivative and didn't get into it for years later.

Lots of good jams and a great live sound. The lyrics are probably still what keeps it back - but I will admit it is on par for AK.

The time away from the band when John left is probably what makes me enjoy this so much. Just the fact that it exists.

If UL came out in 2011 after SA, I probably wouldn't have sought it out as quickly.

TLDR: John leaving was good for the band and set up anticipation for his return nicely/ absence makes the heart grow stronger.

She's a Lover stinks, but every other song is good-to-great.

Okay, by no means a big fan of the chili peps. Because i love Trag so much I spent some time with this album.

The songs I like

Here ever after
Aquatic Mouth Dance
Great Apes
It's only natural
Shes a lover
These are the ways
Bastards of light (favorite!)
Let em cry
heavy wing

If that were the album there i'd be a super fan of this album.

The rest is forgettable as a non fan.

Love the use of horns on this album.

I liked it because it was seemingly the only melodic vocal on the album.
