I would call it another example of a PJ mid-tempo rocker reliant on production to make up for its inadequacy but in fact I think there's some enjoyment of this one before I tire of it eventually. It falls somewhere between Unthought Known and Got Some which, in the context of Backspacer, is far from the worst it could be.

The over-production is starting to become much less of an issue, and listening to pre-S/T stuff yesterday I realised how much production wizardry was also applied to older stuff. All in all, I wonder how much of my "Shit this is so over-produced" shock reaction was due to the fact that this does sound thick and layered, and Backspacer and S/T really didn't, at least by comparison.
