We need to know your times.
7:10 is a normal mile pace for me at that distance.
I don't believe you and believe I could take you in a race. Actually time yourself next time.
That's not even that great of a pace. Some fat Canadian who smokes would probably not make a good running partner. At least not for me anyway.

Once Dev feels he can at least comfortably keep up with Justin Trudeau then he can check back.

Verb, you going to knock off that marathon this year? I completely let myself go over the winter, but I am thinking about firing up again and maybe trying the Fox Valley marathon in September.

Ive been slowly building up a base. Thinking about fall. We'll see how things look in July or so. I NEED to accomplish this.

Actually, if you do Fox Valley and I make that race my target race too it might help hold me accountable to seeing this through.

I have a trail 50K in 3 weeks, then I'll be doing my first road marathon in almost 15 years on June 10 (Utah Valley).

I imagine you have to have treadmill access in Colorado to maintain regular training levels. In Illinois I try and go year round. It's not the cold that matters though it's the fucking wind. Even well into April you get stuck on the treadmill due to rain and pointlessly stiff winds.
Today was great though. 69 and 3mph breeze.

Training at altitude is standard operating procedure for elites, local elites and even age groupers. Lots of runners out west head to Colorado, Utah, Northern AZ and California 3 or 4 times a year for training blocks. My sister has a cabin at 7,800 feet. My times are generally 30 seconds to 1 minute (per mile) slower the first few days, then I start hitting my normal times by the end. I generally get 3 or 4 days of supercharged lungs when I get back home.

I would love to head back to Minnesota and crush a 7 minute pace or something.

If anyone wants a (free) training plan, PM me. I'll need to know some recent PRs and your goals. It's nothing earth-shattering, I follow Jack Daniels' training formulas and the VDOT calculator.

After taking a couple of years off due to injury and general slovenliness, last week i started running on my off days from the gym, 2-3 times per week. Only ~3 miles at a 10 min pace, but man it feels good to be running again. Carrying 30 fewer lbs is nice on the knees too. Hoping to do a couple 5ks and a 10k this year, and if all goes well in the 10k try for a half next year. But the 6-7 mile mark is typically where my knees get weird so we'll see.

Yesterday I was 2 minutes slower running on soft ground in the snow. Glad I went tho.
