I know this kind of stuff happens all the time and I'm not here for any KK bashing or general SW/LFL tinfoil nonsense. But it is weird to make this announcement and say the scripts are totally done to all of a sudden have script issues. I don't think it's panic time by any stretch. But I am curious what actually happened.

Cool. Yeah, i dont think the SW park is nearly close to what they were going for.

Still, im dying to go.
I'll be hitting it up next week!

What I heard was the Obi show was going to be about him protecting baby Luke and somehow they didn't realize it was the same plot as the Mandalorian. I suppose they are improving by realizing things aren't right now instead of when they in the middle of shooting the show like the last couple movies. I usually like to defend this sort of stuff with the "this is how you make sausage" defense but it makes you wonder if those in charge are even looking at the scripts when they say they are written and wonderful. Supposedly Lucas wants back in but with full creative control (something Iger won't give). Lucas hand picked KK with the idea she would push his vision and she didn't so he's super pissed with Star Wars on her watch. Something everyone seems to agree on is they like Filoni.

I reached out to my guy in the know about this -- specifically about the "too close to Mandolo plot" excuse which doesn't make any fucking sense to me -- and he clarified a few things:
So, the reason the Obi Wan series has been delayed is that it's too close to Season 2 of The Mandalorian in terms of the overall story arc.

The Mandalorian has begun filming in Long Beach and as it usually happens, changes are made onset to the story or script because things often times play out different while in the filming process than they do at a Table Read. Since The Mando already has a huge audience, the right call was made to stop pre-production on Obi Wan, which basically consists of creating sets, before it was too late.

This kind of stuff happens all the time but it's exacerbated by the worldwide phenomenon that is Star Wars. I wouldn't worry too much about it at this point in time and there's still a chance, albeit slight, that it debuts in 1Q2021.

Deborah Chow and Ewan McGregor are still attached so it's just a matter of cracking the nut and writing the scripts, which could happen quickly or not so quickly. And as much shit as she's taken over the years, I DO applaud KK for trying to get things "right", even though I've ultimately disagreed with some of her decisions.
That makes WAY more sense to me; that it has to do w/ S2 of Mando more than Kenobi being too close to S1's plot.

Think you missed the joke.

Kennedy is presently being blamed on absolutely everything down as far as the most minor incovenience by Star wars ‘fans’

The revelation was that they were too like the Mandalorian.

Older man looking after younger child. And apparently looking after leia too somehow.
They definitely are or were casting for a young Luke

See my post above. My guy clarified that it's too similar to Mando S2 which makes sense to me. Being too similar to Mando S1 does not at all.

Kenoi is a movie. It is greenlit. It is happening. Solo happens, Kenobi isn't happening. Much later Manalorian is happening. This is after Kenobi. BOTH scripts are already read and known and revised and worked on and known.

This isn't splitting hairs, bub. It's common sense.

I beleive Joe's thinking is the Kenobi movie was announced...a script was written...the movie was cancelled and they decided to use the same script for the TV show. That script would then pre-date the Mandalorian. Whether it really is the same script or a movie Kenobi script was ever even written is the question. Regardless seems they got cold feet about having two Lone Wolf and Cub shows going at the same time.

I'm just not convinced Kenobi was a LW&C show at any point though.

You know how much I wanted this. Deeply and truly.

But this step back is good. I’d hate to see a young Luke.

They’re rewriting. Can only mean different adventures probably involving him getting off tattooine to sort out something. Enter Jimmy smitts bail organa.

This is good news I’d reckon
