Baseball Is Great Vol. 9745: last night Baltimore's Stevie Wilkerson became the first position player ever to record a save and was also the first player to ever start a game and record a save: https://www.espn.com/mlb/recap?gameId=401076272

Interested to hear the Blue Jays POV for why they thought that was the right deal for Stroman.

No idea. It's possible teams are moving more and more towards prospect-hoarding and that's the best they were going to do, I guess.

So you’re the _______s and you have your eye on _________ who plays for _______. They are willing to trade him for ______ and _______, who you’re willing to part with.

Why do they wait til 7/31? Why not make the trade in June? Especially if you’re talking about one team as a clear division leader and the other in the basement?

Because of San Francisco's July. In late June, they could have sold everyone. Instead they went 19-6 and could play their way into a wild card spot.

The 87 Brewers are a classic examples of this (even though they fell short)
started off 13-0, went something like 2 for May. Molitor got hurt, the team looked horrible...
Molitor comes off the DL, goes on a 39 game hitting streak, team goes red hot in August and Sept and made a run at the division
I'm sure theres other examples but that team definitely fits the bill.

Nelson Cruz is unbelievable. I have been a fan of his for a long time and I’m so glad he’s on the Twins now. He’s been so fun to watch every day. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a player on a hotter stretch than he’s been on over the last few weeks. His stats since July 17 are bonkers.

Eleven games into his major league career, Bo Bichette has the major league record with nine consecutive games with a double. That's crazy. (He also has four HR.)

• A new study published this week shows a correlation between optimism and life expectancy. High optimism was associated with 11-15% longer life spans. This does not bode well for Mariners fans. You can check out the study HERE.
There's an email we get every Friday called "Dr. Dave's Whole Health Minute" and that was one of the items. Just wait until Portland gets a team!*
Spoiler: show
*SO not going to happen. We barely have the market for a soccer team, where the hell do you think the baseball fans will come from?

As a Mariners fan, my expectations are zero. I am optimistic that they will one day get better. Based on how bad they are, playing .500 ball would be better.
Think I’m going to try being kind to everyone a chance.

I cannot imagine a scenario where the M’s are competitive ever again so I’m good on the whole expectations thing.
