Well, we’ve already been shown that Trump holds no regard for basic human rights for anyone who isn’t white, so this is just the next step. Next step closer to Nazi Germany.

Add on the empowering of dictator like regimes such as China, Russia, North Korea and their greater standing int he world under this trump fool...

I get that Democrats want to have a bigger message than "stopping Trump," but really at this point it's all they have. They should be pushing the message that without a check on his power by a Democrat-controlled House, this kind of shit is only going to continue unabated for another two years.

This is an oversimplification. There definitely needs to be a unified national message for the 2020 election, but the 2018 mid-terms are more about crafting messages to one's specific state to get more dems into Congress; if that goes well, there may not be any need for a nat'l Anti-Trump message in 2020...

Look at everything Trump has done since taking office. Discredit the media, basically ban and alienate all minorities, focus on building a wall to keep minorities out, alienate our closest allies, pull us out of all trade deals and impose tariffs on the whole world thus alienating pretty much the whole world, validate the removal of basic human rights for minorities, focus on splitting the country into “with him or against him”, is all for people standing at attention when he speaks...

The comparisons have been there all along. And look at who’s following him. The leading religion in the country is behind him 100%. Businessmen support him. The military kinda has to support him. I truly believe we’re in for some BAD stuff down the line. I only hope it doesn’t get as bad as it did in the 30s and 40s in Europe.

I used to work with Down’s patients in a group home. This is beyond upsetting. Even humoring a defense of it is subhuman. It is exactly criminal.

We had answers to these questions a year ago. Your morality has to start with something. That's why I said the "eat them" comment. Cooking kids and eating them would be an efficient solution to the problem. We're morally opposed to that, so no one defends them.

No one here is suggesting that cages are a good idea. I was simply asking what is an achievable alternative for the government given the nature and scale of the problem. "Not that" doesn't help, it only makes people feel superior to whomever has the shitty job of figuring this out. And this is not kidnapping, don't devolve into hysterics, you're better than chud.

I don't have the US Government's Executive Branch at my disposal, so I don't know the available resources or the opinions of experts, but I might suggest ...

- hotels
- putting up actual walls in these warehouses and keeping families together
- deporting faster
- speeding up sanctuary and refugee requests
- speeding up immigration court proceedings

I don't either, hence the original questions. We've got a man who is arguably the worst elected leader we have ever seen on a national level and after every dumb as fuck thing he does the best we come up with is "this is an outrage!" and then mumble about "his base" and racism. Even if it's true, that isnt going to help anything. We the people need to check our emotional instincts, try to understand the problem, understand possible courses of action to address it, then act and support those who act in line with the solutions we feel are correct. A basic rational, Enlightenment thought process. Nearly all of human progress over the last 300 years has been achieved this way, let's try it here too.

And ultimately, we can't vote this crew out of power if our best slogan is "not this".

Family detentions were, but in addition to the separations please note the total lack of infrastructure in place for handling these numbers and the Republicans on the hill describing it as a change from precedence.

That should be sufficient for guessing the context of this maneuver.
