At any given moment in time they'll have 2-3 albums in the can ready to go. Don't be surprised if you see the songs on my reported tracklist appear as b sides or future albums.
If things move so fast, why are we still waiting for a holiday single from 3 Christmases ago?

They were trying to select the best available song instead of one they had reserved thinking it would give them a better chance

Every penny I've spent on the 10C membership over the years was justified when I got TotD tickets at the Paramount.

I think the fact that they made a decision to move away from whatever they were working on with O'Brien is a good sign, and not even because O'Brien may be a bad choice for them, or that Can't Deny Me was bad (though I think he is and think it was). It suggests that there was definitely something they were aiming for, and they weren't satisfied with what they were hearing. That alone could be a good indication rather than a situation where they kept going till they had enough songs for a record (which was kind of how the last one felt).

Rampant speculation alert! I’m guessing they did Can’t Deny Me and perhaps a few other tracks with BOB and Jeff finally threw down the gauntlet and said fuck this let’s rethink everything and get more ambitious and most importantly please RM. I’m being semi serious here.

I wouldn’t be surprised one bit that Jeff’s collaborations with other artists since the release of Lightning Bolt made him realize the creative process could be changed for the better

With a handful of exceptions (I think we all know who), the collective here at RM really is the best group of PJ fans.

yeah Jeff seems to be in control....
Stone: Ten, VS
The Powerstruggle: Vitalogy, No Code
Ed: Binaural, Riot Act, S/T, BS, LB
Jeff: Gigaton
Which is very very logical, both Heaven/Hell and RNDM were awesome project. And he made the only interesting contributions on LB, writing the only good tracks on that album. And making Getaway a good song...

I don't know if it would ever come to light but if Jeff and Stone actually sacked up and said either we do something that's not garbage or this is over I would be so proud.

Knowing Pearl Jam as pathetically as I do I genuinely believe some version of this happened.

For all you typeface nerds I am pretty sure that’s the same font used in the “Binaural” liner notes and on the 1999 Xmas Single. Not sure what that means but kinda interesting.
Even if I kind of hate it at first if nothing else I think Gigaton may portend a new era for PJ. I am a No Code fan but for those who think it got too weird I’d say chill out about record #11. Even if this one has some odd stuff on it think what NC gave rise to: Yield, Binaural and Riot Act which in my opinion was PJ’s most interesting period since they brought back the more straight ahead rock stuff but tempered it with experimentation. Hoping something similar happens in the 2020’s.

I'm trying to keep expectations tempered; it doesn't feel like it due in part to the gaps between albums, but they are very far into their career; REM was on the verge of wrapping up at the point where PJ is now. A lot of the things I'm hearing (weird titles, synth-y vibe) give me more pause now than they may have when PJ was at their most consistent creative high. But I'm also definitely excited to hear what it is, and what to make of it.

A few people have the record already, 2 months out.
This thing will definitely leak.
