What movies are you watching?

I've never heard of The Pledge, but I keep thinking it's somehow related to The Secret.

Please go into the movie with that expectation.

I really like Denzel in these flicks:

Training Day
Glory
Inside Man
He Got Game
Philadelphia
Malcolm X

And I've never seen Mo Better Blues, but I bet I'd like him in that based on his other works with Spike Lee.

Hes great in Glory so is Morgan Freeman and M Broderick, Have you seen Fallen with Denzel and Goodman?

Denzel was great it Glory but outside of that he never really hit for me.

Im not the biggest Denzel fan but yes Glory is good but my fav from him is Fallen

Watched these over the weekend

Murder Rap(documentary about the pac/big murders)- B- it was ok some interesting tidbits but mostly circumstantial evidence

The Good Neighbor- B not a bad thriller, I love James Caan but it kinda dragged and the ending is kinda rough to watch

Enemy- B+ good movie one of Jake Gyls best IMO its a little pretentious tho

The Jungle Book- A- I watched this with my kids and it was phenomenal IMO great special effects, good story. Oh and the character of Baloo is voiced by Bill Murray and King Louie is voiced by Christopher Walken. Very Entertaining

since we're talking Denzel...The Book of Eli was not a good movie. It wasn't terrible, but that ending was literally out of left field. So cheesy. And the same guy wrote a first draft of Rogue One.

Whenever there's active promotion on the part of somebody else, whenever I see somebody all dolled up for a fancy photograph and someone's handing out flyers or whenever there's active promotion for something like that, as an imposition on my day, I hate all those people and I want them to fail. I have a visceral reaction to advertising and promotion. There's just something about salesmanship that grates on me on a very base level and I react very negatively towards it. I want those people to suffer and I want their enterprises to fail.

Yea, in high school, but I can't remember it. Does it hold up? Most of those late 90s Hollywood flicks are pretty bad.

I think it does, but I also think the 90s had some of the best movies ever but I agree some of the action movies look totally dated. Terminator 2 still holds up tho idc what anyone says

It's a beautiful movie. I was surprised how good it was when I rewatched it a couple of years ago.

It was in my queue so I watched it before the debate. Clooney was great in a silly supporting role but over all I was disappointed and I had lower expectations going in. Lots of familiar faces throughout, it became more fun to see who would pop up instead of actually watching.
That could be an idea for a new thread: standout performances in otherwise bad movies.

That scene with the various religious leaders debating the merits of the film with Brolin was gold.

I meant to single out that particular scene; actually re-watched it a couple times.

I'm curious to see that movie again, since every Coen movie inevitably takes me two viewings to appreciate.

Other little tidbits: "Mr Mannix, I know this sounds screwy but someone's calling from the future?" "Good Lord!"

Tilda Swinton and Mannix trying to remember what he promised to each sister. Every one of those conversations were great.

No idea why the movie overall wasn't better.
