This. Moderates felt like they had a good aisle-crossing bipartisan plan in place which would do wonders for them in the midterms. They took a chance on party-lining it instead, mostly as a favor to leadership, and were promised that the president was 100% on board and it would not end up exactly like this.

If polls continue to look this grim, you’re going to have an increasing number of butthurt Republicans who believe that the president killed their election chances.
