The bridge in All Kinds of Time by Fountains of Wayne is pretty similar to Dashboard Confessional's Vindicated main riff and is rattling around in my brain. I feel like I've heard it somewhere else, perhaps a breakdown in a PJ tune, but it is evading me and driving me nuts.

There is a part in STP's "Art School Girl," during the second half of the song, where Weiland sings a wordless "da da da da" amidst go-rounds of that "I told you five or four times" chorus. From the first time I heard the song in 1996, that wordless melody reminded me of something super specific from my childhood that I couldn't place. It took about 15-20 years but I eventually realized that it's the line leading into the chorus of "Shattered Dreams" by Johnny Hates Jazz ("I thought it was you, who would stand by my side"). All of which is to say, I know the feeling. Please report back when you figure it out 20 years from now.
