I don't understand why Biden's getting push back for his comments on evacuating Americans from Ukraine. If they close the airport, there's nothing we can do.

Avoiding conflict with a near peer is a totally different situation than the typical third world coup where Americans get stranded.

That said, the US govt has normally put a lesser emphasis on getting Americans out of places compared to say, France or England. Apparently your taxes are insufficient for the govt to feel any obligation to rescue you. This is kind of a weird moment to decide to make that point and tie it to a criticism of Biden, but it stands on its own.

I don't see how we have a say in any of it.

Russian demands are predicated un us pressuring a 3rd party to do something. We can't make it happen.

This has been anything but "reckless". Blinken's report to the UN has been pretty spot on. I still have my doubts about the yellow cake though.

Trump probably already would have shelled an abandoned outpost and assassinated a separatist general.

And would probably have used the word deal in place of diplomacy and picked on NATO allies for not making a better deal sooner.
