My thing with both of those is they were right on the sideline and going out of bounds regardless, so why not just hit lower?Matters wrote:I’ve never enjoyed seeing a defenseless player get knocked out by a launching defender and it’s good that the rules have changed over time but those two plays that were called unnecessary roughness should be legal hits.
It looked to me like Davante Adams would have probably caught the ball if the defender came in low. It wasn’t launching and the shoulder pads hit pretty much at the same time the helmets hit. It was called correctly but I don’t like the rule. Helmets hit, it’s football.lennytheweedwhacker wrote:My thing with both of those is they were right on the sideline and going out of bounds regardless, so why not just hit lower?Matters wrote:I’ve never enjoyed seeing a defenseless player get knocked out by a launching defender and it’s good that the rules have changed over time but those two plays that were called unnecessary roughness should be legal hits.
