If it's epic tone you want, its epiphone you flaunt.

Interesting.

Those things can feedback and make noise with the best of them.

I mean, i get it, yea so many of them are used for jazz music but i think there's something about the build of them that when pushed can be quite vicious.

Can’t tell if serious.

Do you mean flaunt in a good way?

That particular guitar is also insanely ugly, so there's that.

I agree that a semi-hollow will squeal and feedback more readily than a solid-body, so it's not a great choice for high gain (unless that's specifically what you're after, and I suspect it's not).

If you were looking at a traditional Gibson-esque design, two humbucker guitar, I'd recommend these:

Epiphone Les Paul Standard 50s

Epiphone SG Standard '61

However, I'd probably be more inclined personally to go for something like this:

Yamaha Revstar RS420

G&L Tribute Fallout

These are all roughly around the same price point, I think.

Ooh, I really like the look of that Yamaha!

The Epiphone Dot in aquamarine is ugly, yes, but kinda makes it charming.

That Maton is uglier.

Anyway I am still extremely entry-level and I appreciate all your thoughts.

PS - I picked ip an entry level Epi SG the other day and it felt like a toy. Very thin.

I bought the epi special withp90s a few years ago. Sounded and played well...until one of the pots started dying a few months in. Maybe it was bad luck, but I ended up getting a used Gibson double-cut special that I love. It's #2 now.

Bammer, don't buy a semi-hollow if you're looking for metal tones.
