Maybe I am reading your post wrong, but it looks to me like you went from agreeing with a presidential tweet which frames liberals as engaging in immigration purely on bad faith as a cynical vote-grabbing numbers game, to complaining about people allowing political disagreements to become a reductive force in how they see and treat their fellow humans, in like two and a half turns.

The connection is that you find "truth" in the asinine notion that immigrants desperately espcaping from un-liveable countries are "infesting" the United States, UK and Australia - that a large portion of them are dangerous criminals and MS-13 gang members, rapists, etc.... - and that liberals want these people to "infest" our countries because it would be a cheap vote grab.

This was more where I was coming from, and while I definitely wouldn't frame it in that way, I still think there is a cynical exploitation of the fact that immigrants often gravitate towards left-leaning political parties. That's the basic sentiment I was agreeing with.

I still don't really see the connection between the two. I guess I care a great deal more about how individual people treat other people within the community, and much less so about the impact of sweeping generalisations about groups who aren't part of the community, however unfair those generalisations may be.

Then used the WH press secretary twitter account rather than her own personal account to go after the restaurant. She can’t be that much of an idiot. What other purpose do you imagine she had for doing that? What will it actually achieve?

Owner is well within their rights to ask her to leave. You can’t say I support a bakery refusing service to a gay l couple and then complain a restaurant wouldn’t serve me cos I’m racist


Be surprised if we don’t hear more about this restaurant in the coming days.

I would expect them to talk about it constantly, which makes a lot of sense. When a chief part of your appeal is feeling aggrieved all of the time, your job becomes a lot harder when the news is dominated by your practice of separating children from their parents.

Probably impossible to find out but you’d have to imagine a lot of people aren’t even trying to cross the border now.

Except the conditions they are fleeing are even worse than what they face at the border, so it's a deterrent that doesn't actually work.
