Had a fanfuckingtastic weekend in Illinois. Nothing but food and friends. Picture perfect Midwest autumn weather. Went to an amazing haunted house. Hit up a tiny Italian beef joint on the way to the airport before we left. Heaven. It’s so much easier to appreciate Illinois’s good qualities now that I don’t live there anymore.

He’s 55. His son just passed the bar and became an attorney. His daughter is in her sophomore year at university. I taught them both. I’ve been to Europe twice with this guy, chaperoning school trips. He’s a good man. He for sure didn’t cheat or anything. I feel awful for him.
My wife and I have a senior and a freshman now. We could be empty nesters in just 4 years. I think we’ll be okay, but this kind of shit rattles me. We fell in love 25 years ago when we were young. What has followed for two decades has been amazing. We’ve raised two kids, and I love her more than ever. But what happens when it’s just us again, and this time we’re not young and infatuated? In my mind, it’s going to be great, and I’m looking forward to it, but this shit today scares me.
my 2 cents as a single/fatherless chap
i think when people first get married its a total honeymoon up until the birth of their first kid. then the next 18-25 years is spent raising the kids and making them the focal point of your existence (this is neither right nor wrong) so when the time comes and the kids flown the coop couples arent sure how to live their lives as the past 25 years they have been programmed to dote on their children. I would think as long as you make/made time to go on dates, getaways or a short weekend without the kids so you can still be invested in your partner instead of being invested in your kids mom/dad the transition to empty nesters may be easier.
or youre just fucked. one of those two

I'm with you. They can keep their sauerkraut and nasty sausages.

I think the best serious accent is the Trans-Atlantic accent - like Cary Grant.
