Excursion to snorkel the Great Barrier Reef was a bust for me. Once we hit open water past the archipelago, sea sickness snuck right up on me. Made it a long day of sitting in a boat counting down the hours til dry land.

Sucks. Never had sea sickness. Seems to be luck of the draw.

I have been feeling a bit off in the tummy dept the last few days, so that probably didn’t help. Not sure if it was something I ate or a lingering Covid symptom. Anyway, I survived and we canceled a sunset cruise tomorrow, as I have no interest in floating on the ocean again.

I've heard that an almost instant cure for seasickness is literally to jump in the water. Did you swim at all or just stay on the boat?

Sorry though dude - that sucks.

i was on a fishing charter a few weeks ago with huge swells the first 2 hours of the ride. i usually dont get sea sick, and i had two gravol (anti nausea) and was still sick. was so bad had numbness in my arms. was brutal. but then waters settled, and it went away and I felt alive again

but the thought of jumping in the water in that condition would probably just lead to drowning :haha:

I'm not saying I've done it, just what I've heard. Use any of my advice or suggestions with extreme caution...

i remember one time scuba diving in cozumel, the water was super choppy and it was very sunny. i ascended and then floated there waiting for the dive boat to swing around and pick me up. i got very seasick just floating and bobbing around. it wasn't until i got on the boat that i started to feel better.

ive read that if you are on the deck and watching the waves go up and down it is best to do leg bends opposite motions as the waves

yeah i mean i just ate shit and actually kept fishing for the first 1h 15 mins although was still nauseous

felt like a 3-foot steel wrench in my stomach but just fucking did it

i am a giant pussy thought the level of anxiety during that period was significant

also i probably had way too much coffee that morning which likely made things worse

seasickness is the worst...I've always had it..fine on a surfboard or paddle board but a boat destroys me..when we first moved to California in 2011 I agreed to go on a 1/2 day fishing trip..got on a boat in marina del rey to go fish off the Malibu coast..I wanted to die in the first 5 minutes and thought about jumping in the water and swimming to the coast from a mile out..spent the whole time puking and trying to sleep in the belly of the boat..once we were back on shore I was fine..
