In other words, the Yankees will pay him $98,630 PER DAY over the next nine years. Per day. Each and every day. Not week. Not month. Every fucking day. Insane.

This will be an albatross deal just like Albert Pujols sooner than later. All it takes is one elbow injury, and shit hits the fan.

Unreal money for someone who plays in 20% of the games.

If you consider a pitcher misses 2-3 starts and averages 7 innings per start, then he’s only playing like 15% of the time. For $36M. Damn.

And position players play almost every game but are only involved in 15% of each game.

True.
I thought the popularity of baseball was declining. This is crazy.
I have no problem with these salaries (the owners would keep the money otherwise) other than if it prices fans out of attending games.

MLB makes a ludicrous amount of money off TV contracts. I'm pretty sure they could play in an empty stadium every day and still make enough money to sustain these massive payrolls.

I'm thinking at least 10 million of his deal.

He's got 3 years and 96 million I think left, wow. Maybe they wait until July and hope he has a much improved 2020.
