After his introduction in TFA where is chose to have an important item of info, maybe because he seems like a very wise guy, in this one he acts and talks like a child.
I dont think his arc is wonderful. I get what rian tried to do, but i always cringe with any of Poe´s appearances. STILL, way better than finn´s for sure.
Yes, both Poe and Finn are poorly used in TLJ.

Yes, both Poe and Finn are poorly used in TLJ.
Which is shame because they were good in TFA.

I agree.

I don’t think Poe was underused at all in TLJ. His arc is one of the more important ones.
I do however think Finn was woefully misused. Potential to be a wonderful development of his character and role but it’s just done so hamfistedly.
But I have huge hopes for him in ROS

Yes, I fully believe that Finn will shine in IX. Can see it on the actor as well.

It seems Rian didnt want the character at all. He grabbed it and gave him the worst story in the movie only to bring it back at the end to do nothing.
Poor Finn, he was the star of the TFA.

We’re in complete agreement on this. He was excellent in TFA.

I liked Poe's arc more in TLJ than TFA. He didn't really have one in the TFA. Finn's character has been wasted since about halfway through TFA.

Hopefully Poe.
But why do either of them have to die?

I just have a feeling one of them will.

The suggested pattern is one of the original three is going to buy the farm. And there’s only one left so...

I’m thinking that shot of Leia and Rey hugging and she’s crying, is at the end. She’s killed Kylo and she feels terrible having to tell Leia

God, I hope so.

Leads me to think they can’t have Rey killing him outright cos she’s such a role model. So perhaps she’s just breaking the news he redeemed himself by dying to save them ?
From Palpatine?

It can't be all happy either, with no one dying, no stakes.

I don't think you need any main character deaths for there to be stakes.
No, I don't think Poe or Finn will die.

I think Rey, Finn and Poe will survive. Kylo will die. No doubt about it. So for me the question is whether or not Leia, Lando, Chewie, the Falcon and even the droids, will make it. It would be different if they were planning episode X. However, every other planned movie or series is a prequel.

Why can't most of them live, and have a happy ending? This is Star Wars. It should always be hopeful in the end. It is possible to have characters continue to live after a movie ends. Then you can use your imagination that they lived happy prosperous lives.

Until the new sequels come along, and they are old and bitter?
It adds a little more gravitas when someone dies. It would be strange for me if there isn't any death in the last movie.
