Steve Albini wrote:Whenever there's active promotion on the part of somebody else, whenever I see somebody all dolled up for a fancy photograph and someone's handing out flyers or whenever there's active promotion for something like that, as an imposition on my day, I hate all those people and I want them to fail. I have a visceral reaction to advertising and promotion. There's just something about salesmanship that grates on me on a very base level and I react very negatively towards it. I want those people to suffer and I want their enterprises to fail.

It's an okay movie, but the cinematography and lighting are utterly sterile and lifeless, and there is no sensuality in the camerawork. It's a prosaic movie. Clearly the work of a writer, not a filmmaker. Which is a shame, because the dialogue and cast are great.tragabigzanda wrote:Hmm, I thought he did really well with his wife shots. All the natural scenery seemed really well balanced and framed the action nicely. When will you be doing Sharing Cinematic Values?tragabigzanda wrote:I totally agree about the lack of sensuality. I actually liked the cinematography and lighting -- looked sort of dusty and old. Come to think of it, I think we had a similar disagreement about Hateful 8. I might just be a sucker for films with old-looking mountain shots. Always reminds me of childhood summers in Idaho.LoathedVermin72 wrote:It's an okay movie, but the cinematography and lighting are utterly sterile and lifeless, and there is no sensuality in the camerawork.
