The Maz hologram/video message is painful in this.

That we all agree on.

Could have so easily been Lando and would have made infinitely more sense given where they were told to go and Lando having all the connections and telling them who to look for

They don't know who Lando is.

I don't mind it being Maz, she just didn't need to be fighting.

Finn does. Poe was at the fight at Max's castle.

Aw huh. It's also really not difficult to imagine that Poe knows who she is and has had a lot of interaction with her that we just haven't seen. It's really not a stretch.

I love that it's Maz. I do think the total execution of the scene is wonky but I don't think it's as awful as others do. It's fine. Could have been handled better but certainly not something that damages the movie for me or takes me out of the story.

I have no idea if Maz will be back in 9 or not, but I hope so. I'd love to see that scene from the first TFA trailer where Maz is handing the light saber to Leia re-purposed for this film in some way. Since we know they're using unused TFA footage. Seems like a good one to throw in and help extend Maz's story with the Resistance.

Maz is a weak PT type character that is borderline acceptable in TFA and a ridiculous cartoon in TLJ.

Can’t take her seriously when she looks like an animated character.

There's a lot in this post that is confusing and weird to me. But we'll just agree to disagree.

Max has been the weakest part of the new trilogy which is a shame because she is played by a magnificent actor

They should do something like tales from mazs castle. A series or something.

He castle is built on an ancient Jedi temple and there’s Jedi buried in the vaults below ffs

And all the smugglers and scoundrels that pass through.

It would be awesome

Yeah. They should have just let Lupita be herself.
