What Matty Y said in the tweet, the ability of government controlled social media to cause conflict by manipulating the content users see.

This was revelatory just a few years ago, but is old news now.
It was more news worthy when it was positioned as AI assisted, but without that it just seems like a viral clip being spun by viewers to fit their own narratives.
Isn't that Matty's thing? Government controlled Twitter? Facebook is accused of the same, no? No, most SM companies are not directed by their domestic governments to behave in that manner, and sure if you want to redirect you can claim it's old news (note the sarcasm in Matty Y's tweet)
They're begging for regulation and yet nobody wants to regulate.Bi_3 wrote:but that does not mean it's not effective or still a clear and present risk going into 2024. And the spinning is the point as the goal is division and distraction. It's a reminder that if you think foreign election interference via social media was bad in 2016, just wait until next year as roughly a third of voting age Americans under 30 are active users of the app.
Knowing nothing about this young lady and her motives, I think it's as interesting as it is temporary. I think she could havee turned the volume up a bit and gone more Nolan with it. And I don't know that I defended it. The tweet I shared gave another explanation that wasn't quite so conspiratorial.Bi_3 wrote:The content is kinda interesting though. I interpret it as a mockery of western feminism, but clearly others here felt the need to defend it.
