That was more like a collaborative tour than an opener.

I have seen six Ben Harper openers and enjoyed all of them. I remember Merriweather Post in 98 being particularly good. I really liked MMJ as well. I didn't care for Sonic Youth or S-K, to noisy for arena shows.

Neither of those bands do well in large venues, but they are two of the greatest shows I've ever seen in small venues.

I'd rather see them ditch the opening acts as well. They've toured with a bunch of awesome bands in the past, but it'd be nice to see them do a tour just by themselves.

At the 09 Seattle shows where Eddie was sick the first night and sounded like shit, the Ben Harper set was more enjoyable than the PJ set.

If they added 5-6 more songs to each show (go from ~28 to ~34 avg), this would be OK by me.

Band of Horses and Black Keys opened for them on their last real american tour.
