Language evolves. It's fine. Who cares?

Bammer, your opinion is based on incorrect information; it's wrong

if you "correct" someone's stated pronouns I hope you are cancelled

"we all know why"

the "bigger stronger" fallacy is affecting more women than just trans women; it has implications for any cis woman with "atypical" bodily physiology; for example, it has meant that many Black cis women are being held in suspicion and penalised in competitions as well, when they are simply, naturally, better and more physically capable athletes

as long as we are segregating sports according to gender instead of according to more sensible things like bodily capability, trans women have a right to play sports *as women*, without question and without discrimination

that is not my opinion, it's the truth, and I'll continue to inconvenience and get in the way of anyone against it

The everpresent white liberal response of "who cares? again...

Again: Language does evolve. It can also be manipulated and directed. Power is well aware of this, which is why it dumps vast sums of cash into crafting media narratives, and controlling the media outlets that propagate them.

Not saying that this is 100% the case here, but just something to be aware of.

I still don't care.

"Oh no the media is creating a narrative that makes people feel more comfortable about themselves, I better fight against it because...?"

I read it correctly Bammer; rather than "correct" them, you can assume they weren't wrong and politely ask for clarification, then do as they ask

also, "there" is pronounced exactly the same as "their"

what will you do when you come up against neopronouns? "fae / faer", "ze / hir", even "it / its"? my genderfluid partner goes by those last pair sometimes, and they deserve to have that respected

you can stop pretending that you don't care, and just say that you both do care and agree with the position. No reason to feign lack of care.

A perfect illustration of how "It's not happening" shifts to "it is happening and it's a good thing actually".

But what happens when the people driving that evolution aren't white cis make Americans? People might start to use terms like "micro-aggression," "systemic racism," and "unconscious bias." And then some of our societies hierarchies may start to flatten and put Blacks, women, and maybe even trans individuals on an equal footing with me!

I want you to know that there's nothing interesting or noble about being a cynical contrarian. It's so fucking boring and easy.

You have like 3 programed responses. Being cynical about a given movement is not being cynical universally, and being against a given narrative only makes me contrary to that narrative. I assure you I am neither cynical nor blindly contrarian in general.

i assure you this is being driven and promoted primarily by white Americans. Because it primarily benefits the specific white Americans who control the narratives (the ultrawealthy).

nobody cares if you're cynical "universally", this thread isn't about how far out and agreeable the universe is

It matters because biological sex is not gender. And it matters in medicine whether or not someone has a Y chromosome. The impacts are not universally consistent, genetic mutations occur, but there are real distinctions for the overwhelming majority (DSDs are about 1 in 20,000) that mean the difference between life and death in some treatments and it makes sense for everyone's well being that in our language there is a static series of letters that designate this.
