Again: Language does evolve. It can also be manipulated and directed. Power is well aware of this, which is why it dumps vast sums of cash into crafting media narratives, and controlling the media outlets that propagate them.
Not saying that this is 100% the case here, but just something to be aware of.

I still don't care.
"Oh no the media is creating a narrative that makes people feel more comfortable about themselves, I better fight against it because...?"
But what happens when the people driving that evolution aren't white cis make Americans? People might start to use terms like "micro-aggression," "systemic racism," and "unconscious bias." And then some of our societies hierarchies may start to flatten and put Blacks, women, and maybe even trans individuals on an equal footing with me!JuanHamm wrote:Language evolves. It's fine. I want you to know that there's nothing interesting or noble about being a cynical contrarian. It's so fucking boring and easy.BurtReynolds wrote:you can stop pretending that you don't care, and just say that you both do care and agree with the position. No reason to feign lack of care.
You have like 3 programed responses. Being cynical about a given movement is not being cynical universally, and being against a given narrative only makes me contrary to that narrative. I assure you I am neither cynical nor blindly contrarian in general.JuanHamm wrote:I want you to know that there's nothing interesting or noble about being a cynical contrarian. i assure you this is being driven and promoted primarily by white Americans. Because it primarily benefits the specific white Americans who control the narratives (the ultrawealthy).B wrote:But what happens when the people driving that evolution aren't white cis make Americans? It matters because biological sex is not gender. And it matters in medicine whether or not someone has a Y chromosome. The impacts are not universally consistent, genetic mutations occur, but there are real distinctions for the overwhelming majority (DSDs are about 1 in 20,000) that mean the difference between life and death in some treatments and it makes sense for everyone's well being that in our language there is a static series of letters that designate this.JuanHamm wrote:Language evolves.
