So it's very likely that these fit one of the two criteria.

I liked Tender Mercies and maybe there's a couple on here that will be good too. I feel like the time for him to do this was 20 years ago but I'll listen to it with an open mind. The Haves though, yikes.

I think its a great moment for an album like this, and with a band backing him up. That Jackie I and Flea thing had my heart but still, this feels like a ood step in his solo career.

I just want him or the band to release more music.

It's an interesting thought. I'd wager that if he put out an album of the exact same compositions, but with the production and singing sensibilities of 2000 Ed, it would still suck... But a 1995 version could be a blast, just a bunch of goofy variations on the Olympic Platinum vibe.

Is this out? I just listened to the three songs on Spotify, and they fucking suck, especially The Haves lol. I could not care less about this.

I dont know that actually being a member of a social class is necessary to either share, endorse, or sing about a particular cause or set of values. We wouldnt say Ed cant sing about feminist themes because he’s a guy. But you do need to be mindful about self identification. Plus, as KD pointed out, that’s not really what this song is about and the very particular associations with have/have nots make it a terrible central metaphor

I didn't like Brother the Cloud at first, and then the emotional weight of the last segment hit me and I finally really got the song, and now it's a bigtime keeper for me. This is confusing, because so far I pretty much despise The Haves, and am okay on Long Way. I feel like this album is going to be aggressively mediocre.

What's that track where Ed monologues "The haves... have not a clue"? That resonated. Even if he is a "have", he can still criticize them believably. It's on-the-nose nature of The Haves that drives me nuts.

I wish he'd used the line "The Haves be having more, yet still bored."

Ed was a better, more interesting songwriter in 2000 than he is now, though.

Well, actually there was a big an interest discussion here with huge large feminist groups about it. Should men be in out marchs? for example, and more....

So not, i dont think its just my view.

I never said it was just your view. Obviously a lot of people have that view. Someone else with that view started this conversation, in fact.
