But Incubus aren't a sucky band; they have one sucky album, the last one. God that thing might be the worst-album-I-expected-to-be-OK of all time.

It's too bad the things that make you mad are Harmless's favorite things.

My brother and I make up homophobic song parodies about each other all the time and this is one of them. I usually say "I'm pissed that your queer" or "I wish you weren't queer".

We'll likely confirm that on April 1.

I'm really surprised that after the strong friendship that formed between myself and B during a 15 minute conversation at a festival that he would do this to me.

I'm on B's side here if it is a joke. He deserves payback.

you wanna be where you can see

Its really sad for me to say, but I'm not exited about this at all...
I mean, QOTSA new record is giving me more hope of a great record than this album or Alice In Chain's record (with that stupid name).
What we got so far? If these rumors are correct and not just B trying to get his revenge on us, we will got another Fixer, Unghtough Known and another Inside Job. What happened to the "Pink Floyd-ish" sound that Mike AND Stone told us about it?
I mean, those songs are good (or ok at least), but we already have these songs. I don't want to hear a new PJ song and think "wow, this souds just like Inside Job", cause if I wanted that, I would listen to fucking Inside Job.

C'mon guys, I really don't want this album to be a generic rock album (Like how The Devil Puts The Dinosaurs here is sounding like) or a continuation of a preview PJ album (Backspacer), I want something new, and unique, like all PJ records sounded to me since Vitalogy.
Give us some experimentation guys, give us something new. Surprise us.
Don't give what we expect, don't give something we already have.

I held in my hands today the first edition copies of the Mad Season box set. The packaging is simple, elegant, and beautiful, just like Layne's artwork. 2 CDs, 1 DVD, and a booklet with my 10 page essay on Seattle music and the history of Mad Season. As I was signing copies for the promo campaign (let me tell you, grandchildren, what its like to sign 500 things, fingers numb), I could hear Pearl Jam rehearsing down the hall. Damn, that band is so good. SO GOOD. Like, best-American-band-of-all-time-epic-good. Inspiring. I can't wait for their new album. And then I hear there's a new Alice In Chains album coming out May 14th! Awesome! In summary: Mad Season box set is out April 2nd, and my main band, Walking Papers, are about to head back to Europe for some club and festival dates starting in April. We'll be announcing more US dates in the coming days too. Rock is back in Seattle. Actually, it never left. And its heading out into the world looking for you.

File under speculation
I think there has been some internal issues in the process of creating this record. The soundbites from Jeff and Mike sound like messages to Ed due to the fact he won't answer their calls. Those two appear to be in a creative zone and the band isn't capitalising on it. In the "car interview" on PJ20 it sounds like Stone is happy enough to get a couple of songs on to the album when he can and has completely let go of the creative control.

It is easy for them to get together and play some old songs but they seem like they are in completely different places in terms of creating new songs. If they were excited about the 7 songs they put down then I can't see why they would want to take their time finishing the album:

"These songs are killer, let's f9ck about for another year and play that Oracle gig with KOL. That way Matt will need to tour with Soundgarden, Jeff can take all his creative energy and spend it on some random band, Mike can write music for other people and Stone...well I never liked his songs anyway. I can't wait to use the free time to teach my daughters how to do origami and play ukulele while I play Fugazi records on my turntable."
