I did a first listen and i liked it. Yeah, of course it has an element from the band, but it seemed way more relaxed, specially comparing it with their last record.

Im enjoying this one a lot. I loved Sleep Well Beast, but the last one from the band...ugh. This is super calm and chill, and i really like it.

Wow, I feel exactly the opposite about the last two albums. Sleep Well Beast is just ... it mostly doesn’t do a lot for me. But I absolutely adore I Am Easy To Find. It’s one of my favorite albums of the last decade.VinylGuy wrote:Im enjoying this one a lot. I loved Sleep Well Beast, but the last one from the band...ugh. yeah, i know you are a fan of the last one. I might get a few more listens but the whole thing just felt super boring. Dont liked the guest vocalist either.

I've only listened to Side A, but the new LP is really chill and I like it so far. It's a nice companion to EL VY, which I do love, but is frenetic and loud and layered in a way that contrasts with Serpentine Prison's mellow mood.

Re: The National
I wasn't looking forward to this too much, but it turns out that the three singles may have been my three least favorite songs on the record. The run from Loved so Little through Collar of Your Shirt is really strong. Loved So Little is one of my favorites, and it's also the point in the record where it clicked for me why Matt wanted to do this; it's a mellow song, but I don't think the National would ever write a song like that. Take Me Out of Town, on the other hand, reminded me a bit of something like City Middle. And Collar of Your Shirt is a real stunner. In all, I was pleasantly surprised.

Re: The National
Folklore/Evermore has piqued my interest in The National once again.
Trouble Will Find Me was the last album of theirs I've heard. Really not sure if I should just do a revisit of their catalog up to that point or check out the newer albums.
I realize it's not a zero sum thing, but I wanted to post that choice for discussion anyway.

Re: The National
well, given that those 2 albums are the ones that piqued your interest, you may want to start with their last one and work backwards.washing machine wrote:Folklore/Evermore has piqued my interest in The National once again.

Yup. I am Easy to Find is where it's at. When Folklore came out it felt like a sister album to it.Chris_H_2 wrote:well, given that those 2 albums are the ones that piqued your interest, you may want to start with their last one and work backwards.washing machine wrote:Folklore/Evermore has piqued my interest in The National once again.
