Other than Pearl Jam, who else is there?

Just an idle thought, but who’s playing the organ/keys on that song?

Brendan O’Brien?

I understand the sentiment. Have you listened to Power of Equality? Cool music and lyrics from before there was “wokeness”.

wrong.

They have many emotional lyrics. To name a few from different eras:

Taste The Pain
Knock Me Down
I Could Have Lied
Transcending
My Friends
Brendan´s Death Song
Porcelain
I'm sure they have exceptions, but this record like most of them is covered with lyrical silliness; they're like if Pearl Jam constantly wrote "Supersonic", which is frustrating because of the calibre of musicianship involved

I'll listen to that

"woke" at this point is like "cancel culture", it doesn't exist

John's melodic parts in Not the One owing heavy (and likely intentional) debt to Adrian Belew's playing on King Crimson's Matte Kudasai:

i need to hear that one. I would love to hear the whole Stern too. Seems it was amazing for the bits i saw.

And the live performances were top notch.

I liked it to begin with, but Watchu Thinkin' keeps getting better and better. That might be my current favorite. Although Here Ever After keeps holding strong.

Yeah, the nuances of john’s playing on Watchu Thinkin’ keep revealing themselves to be really special
This seems to be a theme for much of the record the more I listen.

Aside from the singles - I've not listened to RHCP since possibly By The Way, which I loved. Wasn't expecting much, but this was an enjoyable listen

They should've used this limited cover variant (the "LA Version") as the main artwork:
