I listened to the Ahsoka audiobook 3 years ago, so it's not like I've memorized the details. I just know what I've read, but I think you could call this retcon minor. The spirit of the thing is there, if not the details.
Spoiler: show
She drops one lightsaber on the ground at the crash site of the star destroyer. She's still faking her death by leaving her lightsaber behind, but she seems to have held onto one lightsaber.

Yeah not too major them. Didn't take away from the finale for me. I sure hope we see her and Rex in some live action stuff. Rex is one of the more underrated characters in these series.

I loved Maul saying "you wanted this" to Ahsoka. I hope we see him in the Kenobi series

That image of Vader in the snow when he turns her lightsaber on might be the best in the whole series

Them getting out of the star destroyer as it broke apart in the atmosphere was more exciting than anything in TROS.

Those final four shows were something else. I have such mixed feelings about the prequel era in general, but the CW definitely made some lemonade from the lemons.

Re-reading the first two interludes in the Ahsoka novel, it really isn't too much of a retcon. I'm fine with it. The only part that's clearly "retconned" is the color of the sabers. And that isn't retconned as much as a mistake on the show's part (or a change that wasn't fully explained; either way, it's on the show).

I know they said they aren't going to "remake" the "missing" stories in animated format because they exist in other media, but I really hope they change their minds about that. I'd love to see those two stories in animated form. And since they're now willing to stray in some form from the established book canon, I don't see any reason not to go there.

Great show. Great finale. So glad we got to see the whole thing. Can't wait to see what's next for Ahsoka on screen. :heartbeat:

I really wish some of the stories in TCW were used in the movies.

Those last four episodes would have made a great live action movie

I'd love to be able to re-do all of this stuff now that it's all complete. I'd love to see a "Prequel Trilogy" that focuses mostly on Obi-Wan but covers most of what we see in Ep 1 and 2 leading up to the start of The Clone Wars. The final line of dialog in that trilogy would be Yoda saying "Begun, The Clone Wars have."

Then a Clone Wars trilogy that focuses on Anakin and Ahsoka. Ending with Anakin becoming Darth Vader and basically what we just saw in TCW series finale.

Then do the "Original Trilogy" movies with all that backstory fleshed out and no retconning of Luke and Leia and all that stuff. Keep that as is.

Then do the "Sequel Trilogy" mostly as is but iron out the larger themes and make Palpatine make more sense.

A 12 episode saga that starts with Palpatine as The Phantom Menace and ends with Palpatine being destroyed, finally, one and for all.

But on the other hand, so much of what makes Star Wars fun is all the inconsistency and odd-ball story turns. So... maybe I'd actually hate that.

Totally. Even touching on "children of the force" and how Palpatine basically kidnapped force sensitive kids to train in the dark side. Stuff like that, plus more screen time with Anakin / Obi-wan could have added to the relationships in the PT. Additionally introduce Ahsoka in EP2. TCS really explored some wild and dark themes, would have been nice to see some if it (or at least have some of it mentioned) in the movies.

Why did she only drop one lightsaber?

I don't understand your question. In both the book and the show she leaves both.

I just watched this for the third time. She only drops one. Left hand side. Vader picks up one.

Huh. Weird. My memory is that she leaves both. Both are visible in the snow when Vader arrives. He only takes one, though.
