It's early June; this season is going to be a wash, isn't it?
- Spoiler: show
- please be wrong and salvage a half season

If they're going to play this back and forth, let them. They'll lose some viewers in the process and a lot more if there is no season at all.
Seems like they have more proposed health safety measures in place than other places deemed "essential" to work. I was considered "essential" and still came in to do my job for the past few months. I'm sure they can handle a few temp checks, masks, and being isolated in hotels.
I'm not on players' side or owners' side. I'm just chuckling that they're at this point.

This is basically all on the owners, they think using this as a chance to squash the players union is more important than playing games.

I'm ready for them to start playing.

Mookie Betts, man.
Gambled on himself year after year.
Delivered year after year.
Gets traded to a World Series contender (possibly the favorite) maybe grows his market.
Season disappears.
What happens for him now? He's UFA? He's owned for another year by LA? He walks away and becomes The Dude and rolls everyday (other than the shabbos)?

He'll be a free agent. A long-term deal with the Dodgers wouldn't surprise me.

100%. The players are mostly trying to negotiate a fair deal that gets them back on the field and the owners are purely playing politics.

No fans at games and NBA all summer, no one is going to watch baseball. Just call it and hope some fans come back next year

I disagree. I think TV numbers would be fantastic.

The stuffed animals filling the seats ... that was genius. MLB take note.

That's way too much fun for MLB.

at this point i just hope that they cancel the season. with the few games that they would play, it's just basically a meaningless novelty season.

If they do 80+ then I'm on board. Anything less (like the owners are suggesting) and it's pointless.

Even then it's a novelty season. You need 150 games to have a truly representative season. Every team wins 50, every team loses 50, it's what you do with the rest that matters.

If they do anything less than 100 games and end up having like 14 playoff teams or whatever they're planning, they also better not call the championship series in October "the World Series."

I don't disagree, I'm just ok with a novelty season at this point if it can be done safely.

If they end up with a 50 game season I would rather have some kind of World Cup style format. The season is fugazi already, might as well do something different.

Hell, we may as well go full bore and reconstitute the 1994 Expos and finish the season.
