Ok what am I missing here?

Starkiller base is on a stationary planet. Fixed location.

It uses energy from the sun to charge the weapon, and converts it to a laser beam (or whatever) to blow up other planets. "When the sun goes dark, you'll know the weapon is ready" (paraphrasing). *The* sun, not *one of the* suns.

How many fucking suns are there? Seems like you could only use the weapon once, and then you wouldn't have a sun anymore so EVERYTHING would die, including everyone on Starkiller base.

It was the only sun providing light to Starkiller base planet

OMG maybe it's the same planet that was right next to Vulcan but not affected by that planet's destruction and also an ice planet but really close to the Vulcan sun and all that so maybe Star Wars and Star Trek are the same universe and Kirk's dad is Thor so

Unicron was also a mobile planet.
