Just to make you guys comfortable he's going to take a white QB out of BYU in the 2nd or 3rd.

the precedent of a player saying "I refuse to play for the team that drafted me" disgusts me.

Is this inspired by the Elway to Marino movie?

Also, why?

Because there are legitimately poorly run franchises out there, so why should a guy's future career have to suffer because of the misfortune that an incompetent group of people won the right to own him?

Sure. I'm not a fan of guys pulling that move, but I think "disgust" is a little strong. Sometimes it can be justified.

You realize you just described our Miami Dolphins, right?

But seriously, I get that there are poorly run franchises, but them's the breaks. You earn free agency, it's not (in essence) automatically given to you because you decide to be a dink.

What needs to be remembered is that both Elway and Bo Jackson had legit offers to play baseball if they wanted to pursue them. It's not like they would have twiddled their thumbs for a year wasting their athletic talent.

Oh, and Mecca, that documentary taught us that Jim Kelly wasn't thrilled to play in Buffalo, either--and actually dodged them for a few years in the USFL. How does Kelly compare to Elway and Bo for you?

Note to self: if I ever want to upset Nick, try to sully Elway's legacy.

I thought I covered my bases well by mentioning Bo in that post, especially considering where he ended up. Still, if you think I'm bad, you should see some of the Broncos forums out there. :haha: Plus, now that he's the de facto GM, he still has plenty of time to sully his legacy.

I'll disagree with Adam that it's time to change this.
