I don’t know, Ruddo. I think 1992 was the one and only time it appeared in the Olympics.

I keep wondering how ski jump is still a thing... when the next day theyre doing the half pipe, and the big air events.
closing ceremony conversation -
"hey man, I see you got a gold, what did you get it in?"
"ski jump, I broke 200 meters on my last jump to move into first, I see you got a bronze?"
"yeah, I missed hitting on my chicken salad, and the guy who won nailed his frontside misty into a backside rodeo flip"
"wait, what?"
"yeah, we jump like you do, we just do flips and tricks, and we do 4 or 5 jumps per round..."
"well we go distance"
"yeah we have big air events too, just saying, get with the times bro"
It just really seems so boring compared to whats going on next to hit

Ski Jump is a hundred times more interesting than those flip sports.

Ski jump is like the long jump. It's very simple, but kind of beautiful.

In theory, I'd agree with you. But, aside from the women's gold medal hockey game, the men's snowboarding half pipe was easily the high point of the Games for me. (The skiing halfpipe was pretty awesome too.)

The announcing/commentary in the video from the ‘92 Olympics is freaking hilarious. Dude would be fired if he said half that shit on air these days.

Except that the red side is decidedly faster.

I think I only saw one race won on the blue side and it was by 0.01 second. I saw at least 10 won on the red side. Most weren’t very close either.

A race should consist of two runs, one from each side, combined fastest time advances.
