Are there any rumors about when a new book might come out?

Something I read -- can't remember where, I'll see if I can find it -- said that Martin gave an interview within the last two weeks in which he said he expected to be out by the end of next year.

I don't think he's dead, is he supposed to be? didn't we last see him stuck in the snow outside Winterfell?

a little wiki research confirms this.

We're led to believe that Stannis died because of the letter that Ramsay Snow sends to Jon Snow

I just didn't believe that Stannis even made it to Winterfell and with the Braavosi banker and his escort knowing of the Karstark betrayal, that they would have even pulled it off on Stannis.

Furreal. He's one of my favorite characters for a reason I cannot put my finger on. He just seems like a down-to-earth guy.

So what's the deal with the fifth book. My wife bought me the first four in a box set for fathers day. I just finished the fourth and I'm looking to buy the fifth. Is the fifth paperback only available in two parts?

Depends on where you live. In some areas, it's been published in two parts. My edition is the complete volume.

Both parts have been out for more than a year now, though.

Yes. I am holding the paperback as I type. This slows down my typing somewhat, but I'm all for making a point.

Yeah, I've owned my (Australian) paperback copy of Dance With Dragons for about a year now. Its one complete volume.

Yeah I just went ahead and ordered the hardcover. I can't wait a month, I need me some Dany and Jon Snow and Tyrion, I can't say I hated the forth book but I certainly missed those characters. I sure hope Davos isn't really dead.
