i think it's less the song structure / vocals and more the instruments. feels like some clanging and percussion have a similar feel to them

Forgot about this album alarmingly quickly. Looks like everyone else has done the same. I was hoping for a lot more, and perhaps that's my bad.

Revisiting their old stuff recently. Enjoying a lot of it quite a bit. None of their stuff after Good news... has clicked with me yet.
Then I wanted to see how they sound live and watched a show from '21 and... whew... won't be doing that again. Just seems like Isaac has this eccentric talent that can be quite magical on some of their recordings, but it doesn't translate to a live performance. Seems it definitely did more so in their indie-darling underground hay day, but whatever vinegar and spice he had back then, he's lost touch with.

Joe - see my last post in albums of 2021 about Faye Webster. She’s right in your wheelhouse.
That Faye Webster album was my AOTY for 2021. I really want to find it on vinyl because it perfectly fits my vinyl criteria of "albums I can put on to read by".

Thanks to our earlier conversation I'm listening to The Moon and Antarctica. I forgot how much I liked this album.

That's a great playlist. I would suggest adding Doing the Cockroach.

Added! Hopefully Raz doesn't hate it. I'm pushing her limits with this weird shit the way it is.

That’s a good list. “Talkin shit about a pretty sunset” and “Trailer Trash” are two of my favorites. I also enjoy the songs from the “Good News…” album a lot.

Although I don’t see “Tiny Cities Made of Ashes” on there. Love that one.

So apparently they have their own tenclub now called 'Ice Cream Party'. It's insanely expensive ($100 a year) but they have released their first exclusive song over there.

A track with Krist Novoselic called 'Bank of you'. Looking for a free copy now :haha:

Having held their first-ever cruise festival, Ice Cream Float, last month, Modest Mouse are gearing up to go back on the road this spring, and ahead of that, they’ve shared a new single, “Look How Far.” It’s a short one, clocking in at just under two minutes long, but it has their classic sound, and the credits list Janet Weiss (formerly of Sleater-Kinney) as playing drums on it. Hear it below.
