I was thinking that before but it also reminds me of the failed times square plot.

Apparently the third bomb that was found smoking and then exploded by the cops was right under or next to the grandstand set up. That would have made things so much worse.

Yeah. The one saving grace in all of this is that thus far there are only the three deaths (although Im sure that will probably creep up in the coming days a bit.). Obvioously no deaths or injuries would be better, but this could have been SO much worth.

 I am going to blame this on the fact that 95% of my twitter successes are based around making fun of how the Detroit Tigers handle farmhand Danny Worth.

one good thing is that because of the marathon there were already a bunch of medical tents and tons of doctors on site.

I am picturing the Boston Police Department being Gee giving a speech to the unit and then Pembleton and Bayliss spearheading the investigation.

Not much new news this morning. An apartment in Revere was searched and it's apparently connected.

Although, as I read more, the search in Revere may have been to exclude a person of interest and not really based on any evidence.

did they say that their is video of someone droping off a backpack a little bit before the first explosions? or was that more of the rumored stuff that was getting incorrectly reported yesterday?

Rumor or not, I can't imagine there not being any 24 hour surveillance camera surrounding one of the four placed bombs.

not sure how true it is, my brother told me at like 5:15 am today

did the WH say it was al-ki-da (wasnt going to google it for the correct spelling)

all in all i would say boston is lucky. i mean 3 dead and how ever many needing amputations, it could very easily have been a LOT worse than that

The kid who died at the finish line while waiting for his dad is just fucking brutal. My kids always wait for me at the end of races.

NPR wrote:the report on the POI (person of interest) is that there was a Saudi national who was admitted with burns on his hands, but the burns raised suspicions because they were inconsistent with all other burns at that hospital. the BPD went to Revere and discovered the POI had two other Saudi roommates (one with visa issues) and that their rental agreement had just recently ended and they were planning to leave the country.

I don't even like getting home from work so late that I don't see my daughter before she goes to bed. I cannot imagine what it would be like to lose her, especially in such a horrible way. A true tragedy for the families effected. I have a few charity races (just 5ks) in the next few weeks around DC. Nothing so big it would attract a threat, but still makes me a touch nervous.
