So is needing to have 16 different live versions of Teenage Rage by Eddie Vedder and the Previously Mads.

Nagoya is one of the best shows this band has ever played. You watch your tongue.

I haven't heard it in years, but there was definitely one of those Japan shows where they royally fucked up every single one of their new songs. Maybe it wasn't Nagoya. But it was one of them, and it was bad.

With the early live stuff, I'd do what they're likely doing...Sit on it til they wanna cash some huge checks.
If I were them, I would strike now before they lose any more of their die-hard fans from their pre-2000 days.
I think a huge live backlog release would just as likely push die hard fans over the edge as it would bring them back in. Alot of the ones that leave point to the sellout-ish type stuff as much as they do the music. I think most are so jaded that it would be viewed as a cash in as much as it would be a "we're doing it for the fans" thing.
most fans on RM or most fans in general?
The pre-2000 die hards.

I don't think most newer fans have a concept of selling out or how big of a deal it used to be to most serious music fans.
i get what you are saying, but as a pre-2000 die hard, i have to disagree. ive been waiting for them to release pre 2000 shows since they started releasing 2000 shows. im also an adult now and think the idea of "selling out" is absurd.
Generally, I like the way the Grateful Dead have handled their live output--select shows voted on by people with an understanding of the band's history, and released gradually over the years. Maybe it's a "grass is always greener" thing, but after twelve years of official bootlegs it's easy to see the disadvantages of releasing every show in real time (the advantages of it have always been clear).

But since that ship has already sailed, maybe it would make sense to just release everything. I would definitely have a ton of fun getting the 1996 and 1998 shows.

And I definitely don't think there's any element of "selling out" affiliated with the way they've handled their catalog. Some of the merchandise is tacky, but releasing the live bootlegs really does seem like it would be win-win for everyone, except for the poor sap who has to sit there and mix every damn one of them.

Well if anyone involved with Pearl Jam Inc is worth an ounce of shite they will have noticed this thread to get a gauge of what people actually want.

Now we will get a cat jumper and a pearl jam In My Tree budgie seed bell.

Sadly anything musical or visual that they release will be lapped up regardless of effort and/or quality.

does that theoretically exist?
Yes - Brendan mentions it in the PJ20 book and after recording said to Ed "I didn't know you had that in you".

The other thing mentioned in that book that I'd love to see is the original Even Flow video filmed in a zoo and on a cliff top. :bammer:

I would like to see if more songs like "Puzzles and Games" exist. Seems like they could have several songs that they shelved because they thought they sounded too "Pearl Jam" at the time.

Was anyone in the fan club in 2003 when they gave us the bootleg companion as a newsletter. That was pretty sweet. I'd like to have more of those.

I wasn't in the club then, but had one given to me. Thing is pretty cool and I gotta say I prefer that to just about every issue of DEEP they've sent out.
